Do not Let Your Hand Drop Down!
Text: Exodus 17:11-13;
Reading: Exodus 17:1-16
My Brethren the charge I'm giving you today is never ever to let our hands drop down!
Exodus 17:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered
his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and
put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the
other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army
with the sword.
Reading Exodus 17:1-16

4. Moses Held up his hand: We are required to hold up our hands at all time

6. They took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it:
7. Aaron and Hur held his hands up:
8. In the Final Analysis, we can not win without GOD.
Life of a Christian is filled with challenges and spiritual warfares!
Indeed there will be days when you’ll feel as strong as a Lion, as big as a Giant and as invincible
as Hercules.
And then there will be days when you’ll feel as broken as Job, as forsaken as Jesus on the Cross,
as misunderstood as Jeremiah, as persecuted as Paul, and as vulnerable as David when he was
being hunted down by Saul.
The road of discipleship is a stony road filled with bitter & sweet memories and unavoidable
challenges.
But the result thereof is life everlasting with Jesus our Lord.
It is interesting to note that it is in the place of rest that war came upon the Israelites.
After a Red Sea experience, after manna from the sky, after meat from the quails, and after water at
Meribah, I’m sure the Israelites were moving confidently towards the Promised Land. So confident
that they decided to hang out and rest a little bit at Rephidim.
For the enemy will attack you in your resting places, but…
The truth in the matter is; there is no rest for the followers of Jesus Christ. We are always at war with the
enemy. That’s why we have to cry out to God day and night. We must be ready to fight the enemy whenever
and wherever.
What Hand being held up is?
Prayerful: 1Thess 5:17; 1 Tim 2:8;
Fruitfulness: Compassion, self-Control, Love, Peace 1 Peter 3:1-7, 8-12; John 15:2 Every branch in me that
beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

shall establish you, and keep you from evil.
Repentance: I come as a thief; so repent daily, Revelation 3:3 3 Remember, therefore, what you have
received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and
you will not know at what time I will come to you.

POINTS TO NOTE
1. God is ready to give you a helping hand and strengthen your hands
Isaiah 41:10,13 (Fear thou not…); 1 Chron. 29:12 (…to give strength unto all); 1 Cor. 10:13(…suffer
you to be tempted above that you are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape,); Zech. 8:9, 13(…let your hands be strong.) 1Sa 23:16 And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and
went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
2. The hand of God is not too short to save us, but we should not give in to fear, fear
not. Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear
heavy, that it cannot hear: Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill
the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
3. Have a Positive and hopeful view of the future
1 Peter 5:6-7 6,Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you
in due time: 7
4. Continue to be faithful, get involved in church works. Work is the testimony of our faith.
This church can not do her work well, when you are one of the members but failing her.
Conclusion:
Our Hands shall surely be strengthened by God if we work with Him.
God Mighty Hand shall enable us in all circumstances.
Nobody will get to Heaven by mistake for sure.
Know the most important thing … the church of Christ
We can only please or serve Our God inside of the church; Christ only save in the Church. The Church is very
important. We are added to the church. We must hold our hands up in the church.
But no matter what you are going through, you must be very careful to keep your faith and trust in the
Lord at all times and let the praise of the Lord be continually in your mouth (Ps. 34:1).
Zephaniah 3:16,17; 16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine
hands be slack.
Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his
work shall be.
